لقد وجدت هذه الكلمة في ترجمة أوبن أوفيس ، حيث أتت على السياق التالي ، Widow control

فبماذا تترجم ،، تحكم الأرملة ؟؟ قبل ان أنسى ، لقد ترجمت في أوبن أوفيس بـ " التحكم بالأسطر بعد الفاصل في الصفحة الأولى" ولكن لا زلت غير مقتنع بكلا الخيارين، على العموم عند البحث مستندات في أوبن أوفيس وجدت هذا:

Widow control

Specifies the minimum number of lines in a paragraph in the first page after the break. Select this check box, and then enter a number in the Lines box. If the number of lines at the top of the page is less than the amount specified in the Lines box, the position of the break is adjusted.

Widows and Orphans

Widows and orphans are historical typography terms, which have been in use for many years. A widow refers to a short line at the end of a paragraph, which when printed, appears alone at the top of the next page. An orphan is, in contrast, the first line of a paragraph printed alone at the bottom of the previous page. In a OpenOffice.org text document you can automatically prevent such occurrences in the desired Paragraph Style. When doing so, you can determine the minimum amount of lines to be kept together on a page.
